Welcome to the Perfusion Photo Gallery

This is a collection of Perfusion related pictures that have been submitted by perfusionists from all over the world.

The intention is to develop an online photo gallery highlighting the lives and events of people in our profession, thereby becoming a bridge between perfusion cultures, as well as introducing the vivid world of perfusion to people unfamiliar with what we do.

It helps answer the question: What is a Perfusionist?

Too often we isolate ourselves in our professional lives, and forget to recognize what it is exactly- that we do. This gallery provides a mosaic of some of the facets within our lives as perfusionists- and reflects the unrecognized spectrum of our accomplishments as well as the immense level of responsibility we have to our patients.

This gallery captures not just the equipment or anatomy of the cardiac surgery environment. It paints a landscape of perfusionists as people- and forwards the suggestion of our profession as the great adventure it surely is.

Narrative:  it is a inferior look at the delphin head and oxygenator, the work horses of the system. The pump is a terumo system 1

Time & Place:   2014  Connecticut

About The Picture:

Hey Frank!

Its Mike Arciszewski, the perfusionist from Hartford Hospital you had met at the CREF meeting this past week. You will find that picture i showed you at the meeting attached in this email. The name of the picture is “Looking Under the Hood”, which I thought would represent the picture well since it is a inferior look at the delphin head and oxygenator, the work horses of the system. The pump is a terumo system 1 and it was taken at Hartford Hospital in CT where i work. I took this picture on my iphone 5.

Also, I was very impressed with your website and photos as well as your overall mission to bring Perfusion and Cardiac Surgery itself to the forefront of public media. I am the Vice President of the Connecticut Society of Perfusionists. I was hoping and wanted to extend and invitation to you to show off your photos as you did at the CREF meeting at our vendor exhibits. Our spring meeting is May 3rd and it is a 8 to 5 kind of a day. I think it would be a great and new addition to our meeting that our state has never seen before. Having your photos spread out across the meeting as they were in CREF will only enhance the experiance for all the perfusionists, MDs, and students attending. Let me know if you can make it out to CT for this!

Also let me know about the photo I sent you and looking forward to talking with you soon. Have a great night!

Sincerely,

Michael Arciszewski MHS CCP

  1. I am working on ORIGINAL ARTWORK by moi, depicting how I envision a perfusionist 🙂 and their impact on one’s life… “FROM THE TABLE PERSPECTIVE” so to speak… that should be on the way to you within a day or two but for now…

The photo that I am submitting, I am calling…

“Taking The Un-Beating Path: Noble Life Of The Perfusionist”

Is by Jerry Hecht taken on Oct 1 1981 and is Public Domain via the NIH. I have grayed out the photo except what I wanted to emphasize with color and added a heart shape Superman type crest with a P on it for Perfusionist. I originally had a F on it for you… But didn’t want to be biased 🙂 and made it for ALL Perfusionists.

I used an APP called “Color Effects” they can be found on FB or the iPad App store… Apparently they lost their website.

Here are more details of original photo:

Title: Coronary artery bypass surgery Image ID: 657 C Photographer: Jerry Hecht Restrictions: Public Domain Image Date: 10/1/1981

    Michael-Joshua Morris
    Keep Strong & Think Happy
Do Not Let A Silent Heart Attack Pass You By…

  2. I enjoy the pictures as art – makes me look at what we are and what we do differently. A pleasant mental break in the day.

    1. Thanks Bro 🙂

I’m hoping that when the collection grows, it can be an exhibit at the National Conference some day.

I have several that i just received that are simply amazing. I will put those in later.

See my email- thanks for your gracious reply.

      Frank

  3. The artwork is incredible and the artists love and commitment to their work is very humbling. Thank you for sharing!

    1. Frank

Really!!! WOW, I am just mesmerized by your website 🙂 I found it thru Josh (Morris) who I know and love “internetly (LOL) because I have a very dear friend who has a lvad.

I read everything I can get my hands on to understand him, what he is going thru….

Anyway, your site is just so COOL, I love it and am addicted!!!! I am proud to be a part of it,even though I guess I am kind of a stretch member!!!!

Thanks for welcoming me and keeping me!!!

  4. Frank,

I’m a great admirer of your creativity!

Your perspective makes me even more proud of what we do!

    Respectfully,

    David

  5. Interesting perspective on artifying the craft. I like the pictures with the colors pushed in Photoshop and the picture that has the reflective image in the glasses. Not sure how the venue will work in a gallery setting. I can see the appeal being in the medical setting with the base for adverting with physicians.

    1. Dude! Thanks 🙂

I checked your site out- it is well crafted. I see we both like to write. I submitted a few pieces to The Sun-

Thanks for all the help- very enjoyable meeting you- and I am sure our paths shall connect again-

      Frank
